Four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Mike Evans demands a new contract from the Buccaneers before Week 1. Will he stay in Tampa Bay?

Mike Evans, a wide receiver who has been to the Pro Bowl four times, wants a new deal from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by Week 1. 

If a deal can't be made, Evans will look for work somewhere else in 2024.

Deryk Gilmore, Evans' lawyer, said that the Buccaneers don't want to pay two wide receivers more than $20 million per year.

 Chris Godwin, another Pro Bowl wide receiver, is in the second year of a $60 million, three-year deal with $40 million guaranteed.

Evans is the youngest player in NFL history to have nine straight seasons with at least 1,000 yards for the same team. 

He has the third-most seasons with 1,000 yards in NFL history, after Jerry Rice (14) and Randy Moss (10). 

Evans also holds almost all of the Buccaneers' receiving records, such as the most scores (81), receptions (690), and receiving yards (10,425).

He is also known as one of the most generous people in the Tampa Bay area. 

He and his wife, Ashli, just gave college scholarships worth a total of $170,000 to 15 high school students. Since 2017, he has given $345,000 to grants.

Even though Tom Brady is no longer playing football, his deal still costs the Buccaneers $35 million this season.

He owns the NFL team that will lose the most money in 2023. They should have $49.1 million in cap room for the next season.

Ryan Jensen, the center, was put on injured reserve for the rest of the season last week, so the team changed his deal. 

Evans has changed his contract three times so that he can make more money without going over the salary cap. 

Russell Gauge, who was also put on injured reserve, took a pay cut this summer so he could stay with the team.

Evans, linebackers Lavonte David and Devin White, safety Antoine Winfield Jr., and left tackle Tristan Wirfs are all possibilities for new contracts in 2024 from the Buccaneers' Pro Bowl team. 

White caused a stir in the offseason when he asked openly to be traded because contract talks had stalled, but he will finish out his fifth-year option in 2023.
