THE ACADEMY HAS ANNOUNCED THE NOMINEES FOR THE 95th ACADEMY AWARDS

vealed their 95th annual nominations. "Everything Everywhere All at Once" was nominated 11 times, while "All Quiet on the Western Front" and "The Banshees of Inisherin" each earned 9 nominations.

 The best picture category includes the highly successful films "Avatar: The Way of Water" and "Top Gun: Maverick," as well as "Elvis," "The Fabelmans," "Tár," "Women Talking," and "Triangle of Sadness."

The movie "Triangle of Sadness" and its director, Ruben Östlund, have been nominated for an Academy Award. He will be competing with other male directors for the Best Director prize.

 The last two winners in this category were women, Jane Campion and Chloe Zhao, and many were hopeful that Sarah Polley from "Women Talking" would also be nominated.

 The pandemic has taken its toll on the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, and especially on Oscar ratings and revenue from adult-oriented movies. Streaming services such as Netflix are also focusing more on other content and decreasing their investments in movies.

Ke Huy Quan and Brendan Fraser both made triumphant returns to the Oscars this year. Quan, best known for his role in "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom," was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for "Everything Everywhere All at Once," even though he had given up on acting.

 Fraser, an old-time action star, was nominated for Best Actor for "The Whale," which was his comeback after dealing with health and personal problems.Fraser and Quan are being congratulated on the phone this morning. 

Andrea Riseborough was stunned to be nominated for her part in "To Leslie", which was not seen by many people.

 Famous actors Edward Norton, Gwyneth Paltrow, Charlize Theron and Cate Blanchett, who was also nominated for her part in "Tár", showed their support for Riseborough.

 Other nominees for Best Actress are Ana de Armas, Michelle Williams and Michelle Yeoh.

For the first time ever, two movie sequels were nominated for the Best Picture Oscar - Top Gun: Maverick and Avatar: The Way of Water. Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh, who starred in Everything Everywhere all at Once, became the second Asian woman to be nominated in the Best Actress category since the Academy Awards began in 1929. However, many people noticed that there were no Black actresses nominated for this award, despite Viola Davis and Danielle Deadwyler's strong performances in The Woman King and Till. This lack of recognition follows years of campaigning for more diversity in the Oscars.

Angela Bassett was the first actor from a Marvel superhero movie to be nominated for an Oscar in the Best Supporting Actress category.

 The song Naatu Naatu from the Telegu-language Indian film RRR became the first song from an Indian production to be nominated for the prestigious award.

 Winners of the main categories will be announced on March 12.

On Tuesday in Los Angeles, California , multiple categoties were presented in groundbreaking fashion.

Cate Blanchett in Tár, Ana de Armas in Blonde, Andrea Riseborough in To Leslie, Michelle Williams in The Fabelmans and Michelle Yeoh in Everything Everywhere All at Once were all great actresses.

Best actor:

Austin Butler acted in Elvis, Colin Farrell in The Banshees of Inisherin, Brendan Fraser in The Whale, Paul Mescal in Aftersun, and Bill Nighy in Living With The Enemy.

Best director:

Martin McDonagh directed "The Banshees of Inisherin" for Searchlight Pictures. Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert directed "Everything Everywhere All at Once" for A24. Steven Spielberg directed "The Fabelmans" for Universal Pictures. Todd Field directed "Tár" for Focus Features. Ruben Östlund directed "Triangle of Sadness" for NEON.
